I live in an outlying island and cannot attend regular meetings. Is there any benefit
for me in joining JALT?
- Of course! First, Okinawa JALT can help you overcome the isolation of island life in various ways.
JALT membership includes subscriptions to The Language Teacher and the JALT Journal,
publications which help you keep up with the latest advancements in language education. JALT
also connects you with colleagues all over Okinawa and Japan, including many living in situations
similar to your own. Our English and Japanese online communities
offer several services to help keep you in touch, including message boards, mailing lists, chat rooms,
member directories, link listings, photo albums, and automatic email reminders of meetings. Okinawa JALT
is also planning a number of Live Chat events which can put you in contact with fellow language
teachers around Okinawa. And finally, what better excuse is there to visit
the main island than to say you must attend a JALT meeting?
